A driver was killed in a collision involving three vehicles on Thursday afternoon on Highway 640, near the exit of Boulevard des Entreprises in Terrebonne, in the Lanaudière.
Around 2:30 p.m. a driver in a compact car was traveling eastbound. For reasons unknown he apparently crossed both lanes and the median before ending up on the highway heading west, according to Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Audrey-Anne Bilodeau. That’s when his car was hit by a semi-trailer truck and another car Bilodeau said.
The driver of the heavy truck and two women in the other vehicle involved in the crash suffered a nervous shock.
A malaise or driver fatigue are among the assumptions studied by SQ investigators. The victim was in his twenties or thirties, Bilodeau said.
Both lanes of the highway westbound were closed until 5:45 p.m.
