A Quebec man accused of sexual offences related to a 10-year-old boy has been remanded for a bail hearing Tuesday following a brief appearance at the Ottawa courthouse Saturday morning.
Nicholas Boudreault, 28, of Sherbrooke made a brief appearance via video link and was charged with one count each of sexual assault, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching.
His bail hearing was set for Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. He will stay at the Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre until then.
Ottawa police sexual assault and child abuse unit received a report last Monday that an adult male had sexually assaulted a child in Ottawa in 2016. The incident, police said, was not random.
According to police, Boudreault is known to have frequented the Ottawa-Gatineau, Embrun and London, Ont. areas in past years.
Investigators are concerned there could be other victims.
