Construction work was halted at the CHUM hospital worksite downtown Montreal after cracks were found on metal beams on the ninth-floor of a building structure.
The cracks were discovered by construction workers at 9 a.m. on Thursday, said Simon Lévesque, responsible for the health and safety of workers with FTQ Construction.
“The workers were worried about a possible collapse,” said Lévesque.
He said work was suspended until engineers could inspect the cracks.
