Vaudreuil-Dorion residents in the Hudson Acres sector are wondering when the city will deliver on a new waterworks project.

The sector has been under a boil-water advisory for a few years as the city awaits provincial grants to connect them to Vaudreuil’s main potable water system.

Sunset Street resident Dale Gatehouse said the city has been supplying the Hudson Acres sector with bottled water for more than three years.

“It’s ongoing. They have a solution now. It’s just taking a long time to get there,” she added.

The city’s practice of supplying Hudson Acres with bottled water at annual cost of about $30,000 will end once a solution to their drinking water supply is completed.

A solution to connect Hudson Acres with 2,200-metre water pipe extension was estimated to cost $2 million, the city announced in November 2014.

Last fall, Mayor Guy Pilon said the city has presented offers to hook up residents living in the Domaine-en-Haut and Hudson Acres sectors to its potable water network, which is sourced from the municipal filtration plant. The city wouldn’t proceed with either project without provincial subsidies, he added.
