Westbound Highway 40 between Kirkland and Ste. Anne de Bellevue will be closed for reconstruction and repaving work for four months beginning July 17, Transport Quebec has announced.
From mid-July to November, westbound traffic from St. Charles Blvd. to Boul. des Anciens-Combattants will be diverted into the eastbound lanes. Movable dividers that will split the eastbound lanes will be adjusted for morning and evening rush-hours to allow three lanes of traffic in the busiest direction and two lanes in the opposite direction.
The speed limit through the construction zone will be reduced.
Transport Quebec also warned that both east- and westbound lanes will be closed overnight occasionally throughout the construction period. On those occasions, traffic from the Trans-Canada will be detoured south along St. Charles Blvd. and Boul. des Anciens-Combattants to Highway 20.
A second phase of the reconstruction of this stretch of Highway 40 has been scheduled for April to November 2014.
