A car-surfing incident last weekend in Pierrefonds resulted in fines topping $1,200.

Montreal police constable Daniel Maheu from Station 3 said a Honda with five occupants plus two individuals “surfing” on the car’s trunk was sighted driving on Gouin Blvd. at 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 13. The car was pulled over and seized for inspection because it appeared to be in bad shape, mechanically.

The new driver, who had probationary driver’s licence, received 12 demerit points and had his permit revoked on the spot. The two “surfers” were given fines totally $1,264.

Police are reminding people that car surfing is potentially fatal and that fines attached to the activity are hefty.
