A 58-year-old cyclist has died after a collision with a truck at the intersection of Rivière-des-Prairies Blvd. and la Martinière St. at about 12:45 p.m. Wednesday.
In a separate incident Wednesday evening, another cyclist was seriously injured and brought to a hospital in critical condition after being hit by a car at Beaubien and Chabot Sts., in Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie.
Montreal police spokesperson Constable Benoît Boisselle said the cyclist in Rivière des Prairies was pronounced dead at the scene. Boisselle said that the cyclist had a stop sign and the truck did not, but collision investigators were at the scene and are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Rivière-des-Prairies Blvd. was closed between Henri-Bourassa Blvd. and 7th Ave. and la Martinière St. was closed between 57th Ave. and 60th Ave.
In the Rosemont case, Montreal police say the cyclist was riding southbound on Chabot St. when he was hit by the vehicle. He was not wearing a helmet. (Police had earlier incorrectly said the cyclist was travelling on Beaubien.)
