At least two people drowned and one person went missing Saturday in three different regions of Quebec, when the hot and dry weather of mid-June drew people to the water for relief.

In Ste-Thérèse-de-la-Gatineau, the Sûreté du Québec confirmed the drowning of a 61-year-old woman, who was spotted in a lake by her family.

Another person died in Lac Turpin, 160 kilometres north of Mont-Laurier, in Upper Gatineau. The 95-year-old man fell into the lake when he was fetching water, according to authorities. The SQ don’t know if the man became ill.

In the James Bay region, the SQ continues to search for a man in his sixties that disappeared in Lac les Misérables.

The SQ in Chibougamau-Chapais received a call about a disappearance at 1:15 p.m. A distressed woman was rescued earlier by a couple. She was wearing a life vest, but her husband was not. The lake was searched unsuccessfully before SQ divers took over trying to locate the man.
