Montreal this morning: Hot and windy

We’re in for another hot one day – and it will be breezy as well.

Environment Canada is forecasting a mix of sun and cloud near noon, with 40km/h wind gusting to 60 near noon. The high will be 32, with a humidex of 36 and a UV index of 8 or very high.

Tonight, it will be mainly cloudy with a few showers beginning in the evening and ending after midnight, with the wind becoming light before morning. The low: 17.

The loonie: At 6:05 a.m., the Canadian dollar was worth 78 cents U.S.

Coming up today:

  • It’s the summer solstice at 6:34 p.m. Sun rises at 5:06 a.m. and sets at 8:47 p.m., making this the longest day of the year,
  • It’s also a full moon, at its fullest at 7:02 a.m.
  • The UEFA Euro 2016 soccer tournament in France continues. Today: Slovakia vs. England, 3 p.m., and Russia vs. Wales, 3 p.m.
  • Federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau meets with his provincial and territorial counterparts in Vancouver.
  • Montreal City Council holds its regular monthly meeting.
  • Montreal police drama 19-2 begins its third season in English on Bravo. It has already been renewed for a fourth, even though the original French version lasted only three.
  • City and Colour performs at the Bell Centre.
  • It’s World Refugee Day.
