A 15-year-old cyclist is in stable condition after being hit by a car Monday night in the Montérégie.
The collision occurred on Route 221 in Saint-Rémi. The force of the impact caused first responders to fear for the teenager’s life, as he was not wearing a helmet. His condition stabilized later, according to the doctors treating him.
The Sûreté du Québec said the teenager attempted to cross the road at an inopportune time. It appeared that the driver could not avoid the collision.
Speeding nor alcohol appear to have been involved.
