A man was arrested by police in Sherbrooke on Wednesday for possession and distribution of child pornography.
Gérald Joncas has reportedly already appeared in court for the same charges in the Eastern Townships. He was released pending further court proceedings concerning him.
His home was searched, which lead to the discovery of digital documents to be analyzed by the police.
The accused comes from Sherbrooke and is 67-years-old.
In the wake of his arrest, the Sûreté du Québec issued a reminder to the population — knowledge of any act related to the consultation, possession, distribution or production of child pornography can be brought to the attention of the police in confidence 24 hours a day.
