Montreal police have retrieved the body of a young man found floating in the river off-shore of Ahunstic Sunday morning.
According to spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant, police received a 911 call at 9:30 a.m. to report the body found floating in the Rivière-des-Prairies, near the Île-de-la-Visitation park and Papineau-Leblanc Bridge. Firefighters were on the scene to bring the body to shore.
The body appears to be that of a man in his twenties. Brabant said there didn’t appear to be any signs of violence, however an autopsy has yet to be performed.
The cause of death and the identity of the man have yet to be determined.
