The Sûreté du Québec is seeking the driver of a white tractor trailer who may be able to shed light on an accident that left the driver of a second tractor trailer in critical condition.
The vehicle lost control around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday and fell into a ditch on the ramp from Highway 30 to Highway 40 east near Vaudreuil, according to SQ spokesperson Daniel Thibaudeau. The trailer was on its side, but the tractor part, where the driver in his 20s was stuck for about an hour, had turned nearly upside down. First responders used a hydraulic spreader to get the man out.
Thibaudeau said that the driver suffered several fractures. He was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, but is now stable and his life is not in danger.
Now the SQ is looking for the driver of a second, white tractor trailer who may have witnessed the accident.
“We’ve had a couple of credible witnesses come forth to corroborate that the driver of this white tractor trailer was on the on-ramp at the same time,” said Thibaudeau. “So he most probably saw what transpired.”
They are asking that person to come forward to speak with investigators.
