The Montreal police is asking the public for help identifying a man being sought for attempted murder.
The incident took place on Aug. 6 around 9:15 p.m. The suspect was at a pharmacy on Ste-Catherine St. W., between Guy and Saint-Mathieu Sts. As he tried to leave the store, the shoplifting alarms rang and he fled. A security agent gave chase.
The suspect turned a corner, and waited for the security agent to catch up to him. The agent was then stabbed with an edged weapon. Afterwards, the man fled by foot into the Guy-Concordia métro station.
The security guard was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, but has stabilized and his life is no longer in danger, said Jean-Pierre Brabant, a spokesperson for the Montreal police.
The suspect is described as a white male between 25 and 30 years old. He is about 5 feet 11 inches tall, and weighs about 250 pounds. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a red shirt with the words “Santa Cruz” written in white, a red cap with a white logo, green camouflage pants and a black backpack with black shoes.
