Dave Fisher, who announced in June he was retiring as the weekend morning host on CJAD 800, made his final broadcast before retirement on Sunday.
As he signed off from 32 years of hosting weekend mornings on Montreal radio, Fisher was honoured by being added to the CJAD Wall of Fame, joining legends George Balcan, Ted Blackman and Gord Sinclair.
That honour came with a commemorative cartoon by Montreal Gazette cartoonist Aislin, published in Monday’s paper:
Fisher’s seat will be taken up starting next weekend by Ken Connors, a veteran of the local radio scene whose previous job was at 92.5 The Beat.
“There is a lot of stuff I want to do,” Fisher told Bill Brownstein this summer. “Primarily, travel more. Serious travelling, that is. Maybe even a little further than Plattsburgh Beach – which can be quite delightful this time of year.”
Fisher’s final show was broadcast from a gathering of Fisher’s coworkers, contributors and fans of the station, and a recording was posted to CJAD’s website along with a story.
