A 16-year-old boy was sent to hospital with light injuries after being struck by an AMT train near the Roxboro-Pierrefonds train station Wednesday evening.
At 7:30 p.m., a teenaged cyclist attempted to cross the railroad on Gouin Blvd. West, despite the fact that the barriers were down. The approaching train sounded its horn to warn him, but the teenager had headphones on and did not appear to hear the train, said Caroline Chevrefils, a spokesperson for the Montreal police department.
The train then collided with the youth.
The teenager suffered light injuries to the lower body, due to the fact that the train was just leaving the station and was not going at full speed. He was transported to hospital.
Train service has been resumed as scheduled.
