An 18-year-old woman is in critical condition after being struck by an SUV in the early hours of Friday morning.
Montreal police received several 911 calls at 2 a.m. reporting the accident at the corner of Tupper and Fort Sts. According to witnesses, the woman was crossing Fort when the SUV, which was travelling south on Tupper, collided with her.
The driver fled the scene and has yet to be found.
The woman was found unconscious by emergency services and was transported to hospital, where officials say she has not regained consciousness. Police say they fear for her life.
The woman’s partner was also transported to hospital for shock.
For an undetermined amount of time, Fort St. will be closed between Tupper and Ste-Catherine St. as police continue to investigate the cause of the incident.
