Construction work for the first part of a major residential development in Pointe-Claire is expected to break ground this fall. Pointe-Claire city council recently approved architectural integration plans for 11 townhouses that will be part of a larger project, at the extremity of Paprican Ave. along St-Jean Blvd. The development will eventually include three, eight-storey condominium buildings.
Marie-Claire Gougeon, a spokeswoman for developer Sotramont Inc., said the project includes three types of housing units, condos, traditional townhouses and stacked townhouses.
An unused industrial building on the sprawling lot has been demolished to make way for the residential development.
Breaking ground for the construction of the new buildings will begin very soon, Gougeon said, adding plans for the first phase of the project includes work on all three types of proposed housing.
The entire project will take several years to complete.
Work will commence on one of the three proposed condo buildings, which will have 77 units each, she said. “At the same time, because we have now gotten the okay from the city, we will be building the first rows of townhouse as soon as the infrastructure is in place.”
Infrastructure plans for the townhouses have to be sanctioned by the provincial authorities before work can get underway.
A model condo unit opened this spring at the site, which is just south of Brasserie Le Manoir/Hymus Blvd.
The promoter aims for the first units to be ready in about a year.
