Municipal and provincial police searched five homes in Laval on Thursday in an apparent strike against local Mafia activity.
Mob-related violence has flared up again recently on the island, with two cafés firebombed and a restaurant vandalized in the space of a week.
Laval Police and the Sûreté du Québec were not forthcoming about details, saying the searches were conducted as part of “ongoing investigations.”
A Laval café where a Mob murder took place in 2010 was firebombed on Monday.
Laval police said Café Bellerose was damaged by smoke and fire after an incendiary device was thrown into the window of the establishment situated on Bellerose Blvd. E. in the Vimont sector of Laval.
