A survey shows that under the leadership of Jean-François Lisée, the Parti Québécois would have received 31 per cent of the vote had an election been held this week, two per cent less than the Liberals.
If Alexandre Cloutier was PQ leader, the party would have won 27 per cent of the vote, compared to 36 per cent for the Liberals, a nine point difference.
The Liberal lead jumps to 11 points of the PQ was lead by Martine Ouellet.
The survey was conducted between Sept. 15-19 when Cloutier and Lisée were going head to head on the identity question.
The president of CROP, Alain Giguère, believes the rise in popularity for Lisée stems from the fact he is the only one among the four candidates for the PQ leadership that has clearly stated he would not hold a sovereignty referendum in his first mandate as premier.
The survey was conducted among 1,000 online users.
