The truck believed to be involved in Sunday’s fatal hit-and-run accident in the Plateau–Mont-Royal district had an Ontario licence plate and was stolen last week, Montreal police said on Monday.

Police say the truck was a silver 2012 Chevrolet Silverado with an Ontario licence plate, numbered AD13323. It also bears the inscription “ELEVATOR 1 INC” in red letters on its box.

The truck was stolen between Tuesday and Thursday of last week, police said.

A 79-year-old woman was struck by the truck at 12:50 p.m. and, later Sunday afternoon, died of her injuries.

The accident occurred at the corner of St-Urbain St. and Mont-Royal Ave. The four-door truck was heading south on St-Urbain when it made a left-hand turn onto Mont-Royal and hit the woman, according to eyewitnesses.

Police are asking for the public’s help to find the driver. Anyone with any information to report can call either 911 or 514-393-1133.
