As part of a continent-wide movement, Quebec labour groups are staging a Fight for 15 demonstration on Oct. 15, to push for an increase in the minimum wage in Quebec to $15 an hour from the current $10.75.
Daniel Boyer, president of the Fédération des travailleurs et travailleuses du Québec, said Friday that he hopes the demo, set to take place 11 a.m. at Parc le Prévost on Saturday, Oct. 15, will attract thousands.

Earlier this week in the National Assembly, Québec Solidaire asked for the creation of a government commission on the issue.
And on Aug. 22, in Longueuil, Premier Philippe Couillard said he was open to debating the issue, as long as he could hear from all parties.
