What's open and closed on Thanksgiving Day

Here’s a partial list of what’s open and closed on Thanksgiving Day, Oct. 10, 2016:

• Federal and provincial government offices will be closed.

• Most city of Montreal offices will be closed, including borough offices, Accès Montréal and other points of service.

• City of Montreal boroughs will maintain regular garbage and recycling pickups, but some specialized pickups will be cancelled or postponed. 

• The city’s Écocentres will maintain regular hours.

• Banks will be closed.

• Public arenas, swimming pools, libraries, sports centres and cultural centre schedules will have varying opening hours according to boroughs. For details and schedules, check with your borough or with the facilities directly.

• The Claude Robillard sports centre and outdoor tennis courts will be closed.

• Public markets, including Jean-Talon, Maisonneuve, Atwater and Bonsecours, will be open.

• Many retail stores and malls will be open.

• Most SAQ stores will be open, but not those located in closed shopping centres.

• The Pointe-à-Callière Museum and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts will be closed. The Biodome will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Botanical Garden and the Insectarium will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call 514-872-1400.

• The STM will be running on a holiday schedule. Visit stm.info for more information.

• The Vaudreuil-Hudson line will operate on a Sunday schedule on Monday. The St-Jérôme line will operate on a weekend schedule on Monday. There will be no service on the Deux-Montagnes, Mont-St-Hilare, Candiac and Mascouche lines. Visit amt.qc.ca for more information.

• Parking meters will be operational and parking restrictions will apply.
