Linda Horsfall told her husband Marcel De La Durantaye, she wasn’t feeling well on Wednesday morning and that she was going to check into a hospital for treatment.

But now, her family believes she never went to a hospital, and they have lost contact with her.

Horsfall, 51, who suffers from Fibromyalgia, a disorder that causes widespread skeletal pain, wasn’t on any medication and had never wandered off from her family before without telling at least one person, her sister Cindy said Saturday.

She was last seen Wednesday morning at 5 a.m. when De La Durantaye left for work from the family’s St-Hubert home.

“Throughout the day, he contacted her and she said she wasn’t feeling well. She said she was went to a medical clinic near their home, and they told her to go to the hospital,” said Cindy Horsfall, who lives in Brossard.

Later, De La Durantaye called to tell her to take money for parking, and she told him she had just found a parking spot near the Montreal General Hospital where she said she was seeing doctors.

“She told her husband they were giving her medication at the hospital and she was going to sleep there, so her husband went to bed,” Cindy Horsfall said.

Later on Wednesday night, her daughter called her and said she would meet her at the hospital, but she told her not to come, Cindy Horsfall said.

“Then they called the hospital and found out she wasn’t registered at the Montreal General Hospital,” she said.

The next day, De La Durantaye checked his bank account to see if his pay was deposited that week and noticed his wife had taken out $300.

Her daughter then called Horsfall to ask where she was and why she had taken out the money, but the call was disconnected, and the woman’s cellular phone has been turned off ever since. Police determined Horsfall was in Shefford near Magog, 90 kilometres southeast of Montreal, when she received her last call.

Horsfall used to have a cabin in the area, and worked at a local bar bar in nearby Foster called Scotyz. Family and friends have gathered in the area to search for Horsfall.

“So we’re all at this local bar and we’ve done a whole search of the area, passing out pictures,” Cindy Horsfall said. “We know she wants to own land and build something in the area, so we’re hoping she’s somewhere around here.”

Horsfall is not known to have disappeared in the past. She didn’t leave the house on Wednesday with anything more than her purse.

Horsfall was driving a black 2008 Scion XB. She is four-foot-nine, weighs about 120 pounds, has green eyes, blond hair and speaks French.

“We’re just hoping that she’s gone to be a recluse for a while and she’ll come back to us soon,” Cindy Horsfall said. “Hopefully she just needs time to be alone and she’ll pop back up soon.”

Longueuil police are asking anyone who saw Horsfall or who could have any information about her whereabouts to call 911.
