Walter Surface Technologies officially opened its new $30-million, LEED®-Gold-certified, sustainable-manufacturing facility in Pointe-Claire on Aug. 22.
The company provides for the metal working and finishing industry on an international scale. Over the last five years its line of environmental products and cleaning solutions has accounted for a 15- to 20-per-cent year-over-year growth rate.
The company, headed by president and CEO Pierre Somers, has been based in Pointe-Claire for 60 years.
The privately-financed facility on the north service road along the Trans-Canada Highway between St-Jean and Sources Blvds., will remain the global headquarters for the company, which has subsidiaries in the U.S., South America and Europe. It has 125 employees in Canada.
The state-of-the-art building allows for the expansion of the company’s research and development division.
Walter Surface Technololgies products and solutions are used in the aerospace, pharmaceutical, construction, transportation, oil and gas and food and beverage industries as well as in the military.
