Quebec government lawyers and notaries have voted to hold a general strike beginning Monday, Oct. 24.
The announcement was made Wednesday afternoon, after a vote Tuesday evening and Wednesday.
The decision was made reluctantly, said Jean Denis, president of LANEQ, the association of notaries and lawyers of Quebec.
He said 84 per cent voted in favour of striking.
This applies to all civil service lawyers and notaries, the AMF, the Board of Energy, Investissement Québec and the Canada Revenue Agency.
Working conditions are at the centre of the dispute between the government and LANEQ.
The union has about 1,100 members in Quebec.
