Highway 25 and the Louis-Hippolyte-Lafontaine Tunnel are best avoided this weekend as Transport Quebec carries out major repair work that is sure to cause congestion. In the southerly direction, the highway and tunnel will be closed completely from the Souligny Ave. exit for downtown to the southern end of the tunnel on Saturday morning from 12:30 a.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday morning from 12:30 to 8 a.m., and Sunday from 11 p.m. until Monday at 5 a.m. Detours will be via the Jacques Cartier Bridge. During the day Saturday and Sunday, only two lanes in three will be open. Heading north from Longueuil, two lanes will be closed at night on the weekends, and one lane during the day.
Work on the Turcot at the Montreal West Interchange will force the closure of the St-Jacques St. and Angrignon Blvd. exits off of Highway 20 E. from Friday at 11 p.m. till Monday at 5 a.m. The detour will take drivers to the Guy St. exit off the Ville-Marie, at which point they will have to get back on the Ville-Marie westbound to get off at the Angrignon exit.
The exit off the Mercier Bridge leading to Highway 20 W. will be shut from Friday at 11:59 p.m. till Monday at 5 a.m. Motorists will be detoured via the exit for Highway 20 E., to Notre-Dame St. W. and on to Highway 20 W.
The Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge on Highway 40 will be partially closed to westbound traffic this weekend. Only one lane out of three will be open from Friday at 11 p.m. until Saturday at 7 a.m., and again from Sunday at 10 p.m. until Monday at 2 a.m. The bridge will be down to two lanes westbound between those two closures.
The westbound Metropolitan Expressway will be closed nights this weekend, starting at 10:30 Friday and 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, between Cristophe Colomb Ave. and St. Laurent Blvd. to fix damage to the roadway caused by a truck fire on Aug. 9.
