After a seven-year absence, downtown Montreal’s Remembrance Day ceremony returns this Friday to Place du Canada from McGill University’s Lower Field. The McGill Daily reported that the move was prompted by the Royal Canadian Legion’s concern about noise and disruptions caused by the ongoing construction work on Sherbrooke St.
In 2009, the ceremony was moved to McGill because of renovations being conducted as Place du Canada. This year’s ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. and will be followed by a traditional parade from Place du Canada to Ste-Catherine St. and then east to a reviewing stand at Phillips Square.
