Two winning tickets were sold for Saturday night’s nearly $12.4 million Lotto 649 jackpot. One was purchased in Ontario and the other in Quebec — each being worth almost $6.2 million. The winning ticket for the $1 million guaranteed prize was also sold in Quebec. The jackpot for the next Lotto 649 draw on Dec. 7 will be $5 million.
Russian President Vladimir Putin says he is confident that President-elect Donald Trump will soon realize the level of responsibility his job entails. Despite Trump’s pro-Russian statements during the campaign, Russian politicians are concerned about reports that Trump is considering Mitt Romney, known for his harsh stance on Russia, to be his secretary of state.
Putin said in an interview with the NTV channel to be broadcast later on Sunday that he is confident Trump will make responsible choices. Putin said in remarks released by NTV that Trump’s business accomplishments show him to be a “smart man.”
He added that “if he is a smart man, that means that he will fairly soon become aware of a different level of responsibility. We expect that he act with these considerations in mind.”
A nearly 6-foot tall 138 pound giraffe has been born at Zoo Miami. The yet unnamed female giraffe is the 50th that has been born at the zoo, which is located in Miami-Dade County. According to zoo officials, female giraffes have a pregnancy of approximately 15 months and the mother rarely, if ever, lies down while giving birth. The baby giraffe falls about four to six feet to the floor when it is born. The mother of the giraffe is 5 year old “Sabra” and this is her second calf. The first time father is “Titan,” who was born at Zoo Miami in June of 2012.
