From Australia to England to early-morning and late-night U.S talk shows, Monday morning’s pileup of buses, a police car and a snow plow on Beaver Hall Hill in downtown Montreal has proven popular the world over.

Twenty-three hours after Willem Shepherd posted a Facebook video of the vehicles sliding slowly, inexorably downhill, it has been viewed 17.8 million times, and counting.

Late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, who was named as host of the 2017 Academy Awards on Monday, mentioned it on his show Monday night.

“Slow-motion pile-up see buses, police car and SNOW PLOUGH collide as busy junction turns into ice rink,” reads the headline in England’s Daily Telegraph.

Good Morning America tweeted about it :

In a city that likes to pride itself on having one of the most efficient snow-clearing operations in the world, the accidents that occurred after a few centimetres of snow fell is a bit of an embarrassment. Fortunately, no one was injured.

The Washington Post posted the video on their website. So did the Daily Mail

And many others tweeted about it.
