A new Quebec poll puts support for the leading provincial parties in a two-way tie, contradicting another poll published earlier this week.

A Léger Marketing survey for the Journal de Montréal and Le Devoir Saturday shows that if an election were held today, the Quebec Liberal Party would be neck-and-neck with the Parti Québécois, with each party getting 30 per cent of voter intentions.

The Coalition avenir Québec is close behind with 26 per cent, while Québec solidaire has 10 per cent.

According to Léger, the poll indicates the PQ, under its new leader, Jean-François Lisée, could form a majority or minority government in the event of an election.

The findings contrast with Thursday’s CROP poll, which gave the Liberals 38 per cent compared to 25 per cent for the PQ, which would spell a majority government for the Liberals.

The Léger survey was conducted online between Monday and Thursday among 1,016 Quebecers.
