Hudson’s court battles could see some conclusion in 2017, as a ruling is expected in the case involving the town’s former director general.

Catherine Haulard was suspended for 10 days in February 2015 but never returned to work at town hall. She filed a complaint before a Quebec labour tribunal for wrongful dismissal.

A ruling is expected in the comings weeks.

Last month, Hudson Mayor Ed Prévost was formally cleared of all allegations in a code of ethics and professional conduct case heard by the Quebec Municipal Commission (QMC), an administrative tribunal. The ethics case was based on a complaint which was submitted to Quebec’s Municipal Affairs Ministry by former town councillor Robert Spencer in July 2015. The dossier was then forwarded to the QMC which concluded its hearings on Oct. 14.

Meanwhile, Louise Léger-Villandré, Hudson’s former director general, received a 30-month sentence on Feb. 22, 2016, after she pleaded guilty to fraud, breach of trust and forgery regarding more than $1 million that went missing from municipal coffers between 1996 and 2013. Léger-Villandré was arrested in October 2014 following an investigation by UPAC, the province’s anti-corruption squad.
