Quebec psychoanalyst and writer Guy Corneau died Thursday at the age of 65.

He died almost two weeks after his sister, the famous painter Johanne “Corno,” who died in Mexico at the age of 64.

Guy Corneau, who was from the Saguenay, would have turned 66 on Jan. 13.

His 1989 Père manquant, fils manqué became an international bestseller. The book explores male identity and asks fundamental questions about fatherhood. When Corneau was diagnosed with cancer in 2007, he published Revivre!, a personal account of his journey with the disease.

His latest book, L’amour en guerre, published in 2015, explores romantic relationships by analyzing the relationships men and women have with their parents.

Corneau was the founder of Réseau Hommes Québec, a non-profit organization offering men’s self-help services.

Corneau, who was made a member of the Order of Canada in 2012, is survived by a 5-year-old son.
