Three snowmobile accidents in Quebec on Saturday left two dead and one teenager seriously injured.

Around 3:30 p.m. Saturday, a 61-year-old man died after colliding with a car at the intersection of a snowmobile trail and Lloyd-Welch Blvd. in the Beauport borough of Quebec City.

Quebec City police spokesperson Martin Dufour said speed and alcohol were not the cause of the collision. The man, from the Quebec City region, died in hospital.

Later Saturday, another snowmobile driver was killed in Dosquet, a municipality in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec.

Lotbinière regional police were called around 9 p.m. to the side of Route 116, where they found the injured snowmobiler. The driver died in hospital.

Sûreté du Québec Sgt. Hélène Nepton said there were no witnesses to the accident, but investigators believe the driver might have struck a tree. The snowmobiler was riding on a trail that followed Route 116 between Dosquet and St-Agapit.

Also Saturday night, a teenager was found in critical condition in Ste-Béatrix, in the Lanaudière region.

The 14-year-old boy was driving a snowmobile on Lac-Cloutier and did not see an island. He hit protruding rocks and was ejected from his vehicle. Foggy conditions and speed might have been factors in the crash, police said.
