Police were at the Brossard home of a woman and baby who disappeared mysteriously in April of 2014 to search for traces of a body on Friday.
Longueuil police confirmed they were searching the home, along with a canine unit from the Ontario Provincial Police on Friday morning. The OPP canine unit apparently has one of the only canine units specialized in finding dead bodies, TVA Nouvelles reported.
Jian Ping Li, a 42-year-old mother of three children, left no note, leaving her bank cards and even her baby stroller behind when she disappeared on April 30, 2014. Neither she nor her baby, Xiao Feng Lu, who was six months old at the time, have been seen since.
Longueuil police set up a mobile command post on Jan. 12, to solicit information from the public, saying they were still hopeful they can obtain some clues about the disappearance, on Stravinski Ave. and Sabourin Crescent.
Li was on maternity leave when she mysteriously vanished with her son, Xiao Feng Lu, leaving behind her husband, her nine-year-old son and four-year-old daughter.
While neighbours remember seeing Li often walking her son in the neighbourhood, none appear to have come forward with information about her whereabouts on the day she was last seen.
Her husband recently agreed to take a polygraph test, while his girlfriend, apparently, has refused to do the same, according to media reports.
As of last Jan. 12, the case was still considered to be a disappearance, with no arrests made. However, on Friday police were searching inside the family home and in the yard. Both her husband and her other two children were in the home while police were searching.
Longueuil police say they don’t plan to comment on the search results. A police spokesperson couldn’t say if they’ll continue Saturday.
A $20,000 reward has been offered for anyone with information leading to the discovery of Li.
