As Montreal awakens from a 25-centimetre weekend dump of snow it will need two things: patience and a shovel.
While city of Montreal trucks were out by 5 a.m. plowing most main thoroughfares, many sidewalks across the city have been re-covered with several centimetres of the snow that fell in the wake of last night’s clearings.
The métro system is reporting no delays, although, given the state of local roads, budget more time for your morning ride if it involves taking an STM bus to get to your destination.
Montreal’s Trudeau airport is reporting cancellations and delays for many domestic flights and it’s recommended you check the status of your flight before leaving for the airport. Meanwhile, the Agence métropolitaine de transport is reporting delays or cancellations on its Vaudreuil-Hudson line.
Most Montreal-area highways are either partially or completely covered with snow, patience and caution are called for on this morning’s commute. Several accidents have been reported throughout the road network in and around Montreal.
Environment Canada is calling for a light dusting of snow this morning that will taper off or end by noon. It also suggests that those motorists who can’t get around to digging their vehicles out of a snow bank Monday will enjoy a few days of relatively mild temperatures rather than the flash freezes that have followed previous snowfalls.
That said, more snow is expected on Wednesday and Thursday.
