Montreal snow removal moves ahead, in most places

Montreal has cleared 85 per cent of the snow that fell on the city over the past week, but don’t tell that to the residents of the Sud-Ouest. Just 36% of snow has been removed in the borough, a situation likely not helped by the fact that the city announced this week that it will end its snow-clearing contract with Les Pavages D’Amour Inc. at the end of the season.

The next-slowest snow removal award goes to LaSalle (66%), followed by Outremont (69%) and Côte-des-Neiges—Notre-Dame-de-Grâce (73%). Plateau Mont-Royal leads the pack with 97% of snow cleared.

One way or another, it’s all got to go, and a coming wave of milder weather may give things a push. Temperatures in the Montreal region are forecast to reach 4 degrees Celsius on Saturday, 5 degrees and showers on Sunday and 2 degrees on Monday, with the trend continuing through the week.
