Don’t get too excited: Environment Canada says the mild weather will come to an end on Sunday, with the mercury sliding below zero.
In Quebec City, freezing rain fell overnight, making roads slick by morning. A freezing rain warning is in effect throughout central Quebec, as up to 10 milimetres of freezing rain is expected Saturday.
Meanwhile in the Beauce, the Chaudière River is under surveillance in the Beauceville area because mild temperatures and rain could lead to flooding. The 500 or so citizens who live along the river are on high alert for evacuation, as happened at this time last year.
Other rivers, particularly in the Montérégie, are also being monitored closely.
