Montreal police believe the body found Tuesday morning on the grounds of Sacred Heart School in downtown Montreal is that of Leila Tatari, an Iranian woman who was reported missing.
The body was found inside a grotto behind the school, south of Dr. Penfield Ave. Montreal police say it is a woman’s body.
Spokesperson Daniel Lacoursière said police are investigating but at this point it does not appear a crime was committed.
Shawn O’Donnell, the head of the school, issued a statement late Tuesday morning:
“Today, we were advised by our security personnel that a body was discovered on school grounds. The police and ambulance have been on the scene since early this morning.
“There is no disruption to school operations. This incident does not involve the school and we are being kept informed by the authorities. The media has reported on the incident but there is no more information to be provided. The students & staff were advised this morning at an assembly.
“Once we have more information, we will alert our Sacred Heart community.
“We will keep this individual in our prayers.”
