Another marijuana grow-op in the West Island has been busted, this time one tucked away in a residential Kirkland neighbourhood.
Close to 700 marijuana plants worth an estimated $700,000 were confiscated by police on March 22 just after 8 a.m. inside a house north of Parc Bénévole on Elkas Blvd. in northwest Kirkland. Police had been notified about the grow-op by Montreal firefighters responding to a 911-call.
Montreal police community relations officer Jean-Pierre Lévis at Station 1 in Kirkland said an alarm system inside the house had been triggered and automatically called the Montreal fire department.
No one was found in the house at the time of the bust, he said, nor have any arrests been made. Lévis said the house was being rented out by its owner.
The drug squad working out of the Montreal police department’s western section is now investigating.
