Hockey Night in Dorval returns May 10

The city of Dorval is organizing a community event so that Canadiens fans can come together to watch Game 5 in the Montreal-Boston Eastern Conference semifinal series next Saturday, May 10, with 600 friends and neighbours.

The city will show the television broadcast of the game on a giant screen at the Dorval Arena. Tickets are $6, children 5 and younger get in free.

The evening will be the second time the city has hosted such an event. Last February, the city organized the first edition of Hockey Night in Dorval. The success of that experience, which attracted a full house, according to city spokesman Sebastien Gauthier, led to a playoff version.

“It would be even greater to have it during the playoffs,” Gauthier said.

When asked whether the fact the city has decided to organize the event for Game 5, means they are predicting that Montreal will not sweep the best-of-seven series, Gauthier laughed. If the Habs sweep the round in four games, he said the event will be cancelled. The city will look to organize another community viewing of a game in the next series.

The NHL has yet to announce the time of the May 10 game.

Tickets to get a seat to watch the May 10 game at Dorval Arena can be purchased at the Surrey Aquatic Centre, 1945 Parkfield Ave.; the Saarto Desnoyers Community Centre, 1335 Lakeshore Drive, from Monday to Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. For more information, call 514-633-4001 or email soireeduhockeydorval@gmail.com.
