A severe thunderstorm passed through the West Island on Tuesday afternoonn causing flooding, tree damage and power outages.
Flooding was reported on Aumais St. in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, in parts of Dollard-des-Ormeaux and a funnel cloud was reported to have touched down near Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport in Dorval. By mid-afternoon, Hymus Blvd. in Pointe-Claire was flooded and partially closed and just before 4 p.m., Pointe-Claire mayor Morris Trudeau reported several manhole covers had blown off because of water pressure.
Hydro-Québec reported 3,900 in Montreal without power at 3:30 p.m. An additional 5,775 households in areas around the island, including Lanaudière, the Montérégie, Laval and the Laurentians were without power..
