In the budget, Quebec said it will start being more “transparent and realistic” about infrastructure projects.
As a first step, its 2014-2024 infrastructure plan includes a list of all projects of more than $50 million currently under way, as well as those being studied.
Current road projects include maintaining the Turcot and de la Vérendrye interchanges ($185 million), maintaining the Mercier Bridge ($303 million) and rebuilding the Dorval Circle ($81.4 million).
Provincial investments in the planning stages include construction of the new Turcot and repairing the des Sources Interchange on the West Island.
The 2014-2024 plan includes $1.5 billion for new métro cars. In the planning stage are renovations to the Mount Royal train tunnel, a bus-rapid-transit system for Pie-IX Blvd. and the purchase of 20 train cars and three locomotives for commuter lines.
Still at the “under study” stage are a wheelchair-accessible tunnel between the Vendôme métro station and the MUHC superhospital, transit for the new Champlain Bridge, and improvements to West Island transit.
