The Pierrefonds-Roxboro borough has paved the way for two commercial development projects to proceed.

On Monday, borough council unanimously approved site and architectural plans to allow for two integrated buildings be built at the corner of Pierrefonds Blvd. and Château-Pierrefonds Blvd. as well as a separate project to erect a detached commercial building at 4792 St. Charles Blvd. A pharmacy, to be set up in a 1,235-square-metre-sized building, is driving the Pierrefonds Blvd. development. A second section, which will have about 418 square metres of space, is being erected on the lot and will eventually be rented out, said borough spokesperson Johanne Palladini. Last fall, nearby residents, concerned about potential noise and odours, were assured that a restaurant or garage would not be allowed at this new commercial site. These two commercial buildings will share about 66 parking spots. A green buffer zone will be set up between the commerces and the residential area located in the back.

As for the St. Charles Blvd. project, it will be a two-storey building with total floor space of about 560 square metres and it will have 22 parking spots. The new office building will house a dental clinic. It replaces a car dealership that burned down a few years ago, Palladini said.
