A suspicious package was delivered to a jewelry store in Pierrefonds on June 28.
Montreal Police constable Daniel Maheu from Station 3 said the suspect, wearing what looked like a brown UPS uniform, arrived at the front door of the store on St-Charles Blvd. between Pierrefonds Blvd. and Duval St. at around 4 p.m. and waited to be buzzed in.
The employee noticed the suspect was nervous and said “alarm” to another employee who was in the backroom of the store. When the suspect realized there was a second employee on the premises, he swore, in English, left the package on the countertop and ran out of the store.
He was joined by another man outside the store and the two ran across St-Charles Blvd and disappeared behind buildings. One of the employees took the suspicious box outside.
The box was marked “Fragile” and had a phony UPS sticker on it with a false address. It also had a Dollarama sticker on it. Police technicians found a rock inside the package.
The investigation is ongoing.
