The city of Pointe-Claire has announced the hiring of Robert Weemaes as its new top administrator.
His appointment as city manager for the municipality was approved by the city’s council at a special meeting on July 18.
“Mr. Weemaes’s experience in management, his extensive knowledge of the municipal sector, along with his expertise in developing quality municipal services will ensure the successful achievement of Pointe-Claire’s current and future projects,” said Mayor Morris Trudeau on Friday in a statement issued by the city.
Weemaes holds a Masters in Public Administration from the École nationale d’administration publique. He has worked in the municipal sector since 1975, assuming city management functions in several cities throughout Quebec over the past 30 years, most recently in Gatineau.
As part of his mandate, Weemaes will undertake the implementation of strategic planning initiatives for the Pointe-Claire.
Weemaes will begin his new job Aug. 25. He replaces Nicolas Bouchard, who left Pointe-Claire to take a post with the city of Brossard in May.
