The RCMP Musicial Ride is coming once again to Pierrefonds-Roxboro.

And with all the planning done and the borough venue readied, Jim Beis and George Springate couldn’t contain their excitement.

The RCMP Musical Ride will perform seven shows from Sept. 25-28, with the first two days reserved for invited students and the weekend shows open to the public.

“It is with great pride that we host the RCMP Musical Ride in Pierrefonds-Roxboro,” Borough Mayor Jim Beis beamed last Thursday as he spoke at a media event announcing the details.

“This borough represents one of the carousel’s preferred destinations thanks to the public interest to participate in this event and to interact with the riders,” said George Springate, the former Canadian Citizenship Court judge.

Springate said the upcoming shows mark the sixth time the majestic horse show has visited the borough.

All performances are being held at a temporary 10,000-seat stadium erected next to the Borough Hall at 13665 Pierrefonds Blvd.

Admission is free for the weekend shows, Saturday, Sept. 27, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 28, at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

However, organizers will be collecting donations for the Quebec Society for Disabled Children. Their hope is to collect $20,000 for the charitable organization.

Last month, the borough council approved $46,000 in funding for the show, often called “Canada on Parade” and which rarely fails to impress spectators.

The RCMP Musical Ride, first performed in 1887, and currently visits about 40 venues annually, including a stop earlier this year in Lac-Mégantic.
