Montreal police officers from Station 3 will be handing out free bicycle headlights and rear reflectors along with a guide to bicycle safety Oct. 2.
The officers will be handing out the free equipment and guide on the bike path, at the corner of Pierrefonds and Jacques-Bizard Blvds.
Lights and reflectors are required equipment for night bicycle riding, according to the Quebec Highway Safety Code Article 233.
According to analysis done by the SPVM, lack of proper lighting on bicycles, is a factor in 19.3 per cent of night collisions between bicycles and vehicles.
