More than 200 police officers participated early Thursday morning in a major anti-drug operation in Longueuil.
A total of 40 search warrants were to be served, and 18 people were being sought as part of an operation called Spartiate. Several vehicles were to be inspected by police.
The suspects being sought are known to police, but have no known links to organized crime.
Projet Spartiate started in October of last year. The goal of the operation was to dismantle an independent drug ring that sold pills, methamphetamine and cocaine.
The operation is taking place mainly in Longueuil, Brossard, Chambly, Carignan and Candiac but a search is also underway in Montreal.
