Parents of young children no longer need to arrange for a sitter if they want to attend the Ville-Marie borough council meeting.
The downtown borough council will offer a daycare service for people for the duration of the council meeting starting at the meeting scheduled for May 10.
“It’s a way to help people participate more in our democracy,” Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre said at the public executive committee meeting Wednesday morning. “I encourage all boroughs to do this as well.”
Montreal city council will also start offering a daycare service, Coderre said.
It was not known how many daycare spots would be available, or whether this service would come at a cost to parents.
